Color Study Challenge Week: Blue

During my last show, I realized when I was putting up posters of both mine and my friend’s work that we used a lot of blue. Blue is a soothing cool color that can either add mystery or stillness. Blue is associated with the Throat Chakra that governs communication, fluent thought and independence. These are not the reason I primarily use blue, I just happen to like it.

So I thought it was a good color to start off with in my study. I don’t have too much to say other then I have been defaulting to painting or sketching mountains and settlements when I paint. I guess it is the years of watching Bob Ross on PBS that is starting to burble out. When in doubt, paint a happy tree and perky mountains? I dunno if he ever referred to his mountains as perky, but there is nothing more sad then a sagging mountain. Debris flows are never anyone’s friend.

So perhaps there will be fjords and some volcanoes. :)
